20th June 2007, 05:18 AM
It's scheduled for mid-late June.
There will be CentOS 5 support for sure I've heard. Have a look at the other forums for more talks about it, there are already a lot of topics about it :)

Oh great, they've "pulled a cPanel" on us (I coined this term... Whenever someone delays something without telling the public :D).
I surely hope they're not going to do what cPanel did with their stage 2 release of cPanel 11... The initial release (CURRENT build) was scheduled for mid-May 2007. They pushed back to the end of May, then the start of June, then pushed back to end of June. Now it's scheduled for July 17, 2007, but I think they'll push it back again :P

Search the forums. The FrontPage Extensions have been EOL'd by Microsoft (last year) and they don't allow distribution of the extensions anymore. They won't reappear in any upcoming Plesk version.
SurfMarketing
2nd July 2007, 11:56 AM
they are still used in other control panels.
breun
2nd July 2007, 12:01 PM
If you've had the extensions on your Plesk server in the past, they won't be removed, but SWsoft is no longer allowed to distribute the extensions. If other control panels are still distributing the extensions I believe they are violating the license terms or maybe they have some secret special deal with Microsoft. I doubt it though, since Microsoft doesn't support FrontPage anymore.
Try http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage
Hal9000
2nd July 2007, 12:53 PM
it has been pointed out several times before, you can still manually install the frontpage package from a previous plesk version (don't remember which was the latest to have frontpage) and they will work.
but still, **** frontpage you know... i'm surprised that there are people still using that crap.

unfortunatelly, no word about postfix support in the "what's new" pdf :(

Wow, their English is almost as bad as cPanel's... From the PDF:
19. Piped logs for Apache – So Plesk now to uses pipeloging for apache logs so that services work more efficiently.
"So Plesk now to uses pipelogging"???

If it doesn't support Postfix, I'm going to scream at them... Their customer support said that it would support Postfix.
Edit: As far as I can tell, that PDF relates a lot to the Windows version of Plesk, not the Linux one... It mentions some Windows-specific components.
breun
9th July 2007, 09:07 AM
It mentions both Linux and Windows specific information. But the PDF doesn't say which platforms are supported (RHEL/CentOS 5?), so I'd say this is not a complete document. Let's just wait till the release announcement has been made.

2. Horde updated
3. Better awstats support (previous months)

I sure hope they added support for centos 5. I'm tired of rh4 and fedora. I was also hoping for postfix support. And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't kaspersky more expensive than dr. web? Besides that, backups via api is nice. As is 25% quicker installation time.

version 8.2 changes are rather useless for unix... but at least it supports debian 4.0, so still a good reason to upgrade... :(

I did not use the autoinstaller on Debian 4.0, I upgraded via apt-get as I detailed here (http://forum.swsoft.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45589) :).

Off to ISP-Config I go...
It's not a good sign when someone moves from an expensive control panel to a free and open-source one. I will not be recommending Plesk any longer.

I'm not upgrading. I've got a brand new dedicated server sitting here, has been for 2 months, running Debian 4.0... so I need to be able to do a fresh install. I don't really want to bother upgrading Plesk on the old server.

I've checked on the FTP server and the Debian 3.1 file is in the Debian 4.0 folder - same file name and size... so I'm assuming it's just the wrong file that's been copied in.

Download file sb_getkeyinfo.sh: 100% done.
Ask KA server for possibility of keyupdate for component sitebuilder
Check key update for product SiteBuilderLogin to version 4.0.0

23. Upgrade of phpMyAdmin (Windows version only) – phpMyAdmin in Plesk for Windows has been updated.
26. Upgrade of clients MySQL (Windows version only) – MySQL has been upgraded to latest version.
WINDOWS VERSION ONLY?!?!?!?! WTF?!?!?!
Does anybody at SWSOFT realize that the old versions of these don't work correctly in all features on Plesk / Linux while using MYSQL 5? If they are going to claim support for MYSQL 5, then shouldn't all the packaged elements within Plesk work with it?
EDIT:
Also, everything upgraded except Application Vault and Sitebuilder. It says it was successful but it is still the old stuff there and updater says it needs to be updated. Tried many times and the same result.
Edit #2
My other box won't even do any of the upgrade. It fails with this:
Check for components requires keyupdate
No keyupdate need for component base
Need key update for component sitebuilder
Download file sb_getkeyinfo.sh: 100% done.
Ask KA server for possibility of keyupdate for component sitebuilder
Check key update for product SiteBuilderLogin to version 4.0.0
Failed to connect to key update server (can't check keyupdate for component sitebuilder)
catch error with message: Fatal error during license key upgrade
ERROR: Fatal error during license key upgrade
Check SElinux status after error:

Any way to remove that Sitebuilder garbage?
