I'm upgrading from 7.5.4 right now. I lease this machine from a company (serverbeach). They do not support 8.0 but I need to migrate sites from a different hosting company and my server there uses 8.0.1

I followed the instructions in the release notes. i went to the control panel, updater, but it only showed 7.5.4. 8.x was not an option.

I then shelled into the server, ran the autoupdater in /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/ and the same issue happened.

I don't know what else to do because there are no other documents explaining how to upgrade than these two.

Can someone help me understand why 8.0 isn't even available? I asked the provider and they said that the license will work for either 7.5 of 8.

I was using the Plesk server for the upgrade, not local.

help?

Also, there were multiple packages with updates available on 7.5.4 but that should not cause 8 to not show up. I've done it without updating like that before.

Do you have access to the PSA 8 RPMs to do a manual install?

Good Luck :)

Yeah, it's a dedicated leased server, I've got root. But I was afraid to do that because i thought it would write over my old install. I need to upgrade it to use my key. I have no clue how else to accomplish it.

Let me ask this.

Is there a directory I can download the RPMs to so i can see ver 8 in the upgrade options? i'm assuming there's a directory labled the version number. So i could download the rpms to a new directory manually named 8.0.1?

I don't see how else it could not be seeing the upgrade option

I've never not been able to use the updater, but yes, your RPM's will be in /root/psa/PSA_8.0.x

You will need an SWsoft login to grab the rpms. rpm -Uvh will upgrade your system without "wiping" it. Be sure to backup as always before upgrading.

Your DC won't help at all? :(

Another option is to hire a professional to upgrade your system for you. We offer a service, please PM me, and I know that Cranky and 4PSA also do PSA installs/updates.

Cheers

EDITED:

I found it. I can upgrade to 8.0.1 directly, correct? I don't need to do 8.0 first?

Disregard, I'm done.

I can't believe how nice the updater is in Plesk. If this were an Ensim server just prepping the box for the upgrade would have taken longer than this entire process.

VERY nice.
