See Acronis module in modules section but doesn't seem to work...anyone have any luck?

you need to install Arconis itself also. The module is just a link from Plesk to this backup software.

figures they weren't giving away any new features..... licensing looks like it is about $700/server aaarrrggghhhh

I would use the 4PSA Total Backup solution. It works pretty well and I've had to use it a few times.

It's not that expensive either.

Oooh .. so there isn't a light-weight Acronis version included.

I hate this cross-selling marketing tricks.

That's not how it sounds in the what's new section of the manual...

New and improved Acronis True Image Module - Plesk now comes with a new ATIS module. Using this module, administrators can create server disk backup images without
interrupting server operations and perform easy and fast recovery of the entire system. The module enables scheduling backup tasks, launching manually backup tasks, selecting the
compression level for backup images, setting up passwords to protect backup images, and other useful features.

That's why i hate it ... it's misleading !

Yeah, I agree... if it is not actually included then it is REALLY a deceptive marketing trick.

you SURE it's not included?

Check here :

http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATISLin/

A license costs $699,- !!!!!

Now what in the world was SW-Soft thinking to make a module for this !!!

I guess there are higher priorities for it's customers .... like AWStats, Postfix, etc .etc

This is even a greater mistake as Dr.Web.

Some people really should be fired in my opinion.

But since Acronis is endorsed all over SW-Softs website .. there probably is some partnership somewhere.

And what's happened to the domain backup - where do I set the FTP backup server. There only appears to be an option to backup to the server.

ZopfWare

Yeah SW-Soft's site says "Powered by Acronis" and...... if u look at the Acronis site it say "Powered by Sw-Soft Virtuozzo" or something like that.....

I'm beginning to smell a rat.....

How long does the licence last for? And I guess it's one per server.

Okee-dokey...here's the scoop on Acronis module....

Plesk (SW-Soft) has made special licensing arrangements with Acrtonis for their module. As I am told the module, when installed, should hav presented you with some options for purchasing a monthly license from Acronis (I am told it is a significantly reduced cost from that posted on Acronis's website).

HOWEVER, I was NOT given an exact figure, but was further told that the module and interface are not currently working yet, and that it was supposed to be functioning by this release.

So I guess we standby and see what really happens.

I believe SWsoft and Acronis are both run by S&W Holdings. The special licensing idea is what I would expect they'll end up doing with this, it'll generate the most sales for them.

Ok but now it costs 700 dollar.

Suppose .. they would use a discount of a ridiculous 50% .. then it would still cost 350 dollar a license.

Is there ANYONE here who would buy a backup solution that costs 350 dollar a server ???

Don't think my clients would be thankfull if i'd raise my shared hosting prices for that.

AND Acronis is not compatible with all OSes Plesk supports

To some people I think data integrity is worth much more than that. If there weren't alternatives around, we would definately pay $699 per server for Acronis as we value data integrity extremely highly.

What alternatives do you recommend?
