Woah... Nice 'smooth' upgrade here...

************************************************** ***************************
* *
* NOTE: Because the old key cannot be used with new Plesk version, *
* the new key (limited in functionality) was installed during *
* upgrade. This key allows you to set up only one client, one *
* domain, one mail name and one web user. The previous Plesk *
* key was saved in the /etc/psa directory. If your needs are *
* not satisfied with the functionality of a new key, you *
* should purchase an appropriate one. Please contact the *
* SWsoft, Inc sales department for assistance: sales@sw-soft.com *

So much for that 'automatic migration of license' >.<

I got the same thing. I was under the impression that the upgrade was free. You?

I also received 2 e-mails from my server with the following in the body:

The key server refused to update your key.
No further tries will be performed.

Details:

Server response: Key authorization failed

I think the only solution is a new key from the sw-soft, but look so that there are nobody to hear us (email, tel, fax, forum, tech support, etc )
Likely Monday ,..

Yeah, I got that email too.

However, 'lucky' me put in a tt to ev1 and had not as major of a downissue since I decided to upgrade at 3AM ET.

Ugh. I wish that sw-soft would make the Plesk upgrades a 'little' more friendly... Come on!

How about a grace period? So that a server that's set up and has a key issue CAN be used for like 3 days...

~
(Fine, that'd open the doors to some cracker making their Plesk forever work... However it doesn't take much to google to bypass that already. >.<)

In my many years of upgrading software on my system, I knew that if a version goes from 7.x to 8.x, I pretty much knew that I would have to send more $$$$$$$ to the the vendor of the application. That is the way everybody works.

However, it looks like Plesk doesn't work that way. Going from 7.x to another version of 7.x is chargable. This is the first company I'm seeing doing this.

I'm hoping Plesk doesn't do it this way and that there is just a "bug" in the upgrading of my key.

PS: When I went from Plesk 6.x to Plesk 7.x, I sent them more $$$$$. I was fine with that. I'm just having a problem with sending them more $$$$ on a maintenance upgrade of 7.x

Well, if they're going to charge for the upgrade. Then they need to STATE IT on the download page. Like they've done with previous releases. (EG. "You will need a NEW Plesk key for this!")

I couldn't of said it better myself.

Before I read your reply, I went through the Reloaded release e-mail notification and I went through their whole web site and NOWHERE does it say that you have to purchase a new key.

I'm still thinking and hoping that there is just a bug in the key upgrade. Plesk - are you hearing me?

I remember when I went from 6.0 to 6.5, it showed during the upgrade that it was saving the key, upgrading Plesk and reinstalling the existing key. It upgraded really nicely.

I have a favor to ask the originator of this thread. Change the subject to "Key problems upon upgrading" or something like this. This will show Plesk more specifically that there's a problem with the key. This will also get attention of others who are thinking of upgrading without the knowledge of having to purchase a new key.

Problem is... I can edit my post... And change its subject... However it leaves the thread topic the same. =/ Unless if you know how to fix that...

rossgile

Maybe you can't do it.

Either just leave it or let's start a new thread. I think we need to get the attention of Plesk and others who think that this upgrade is a free maintenance upgrade - but it's not!

Dear rossgile and others

I have to say that i don't readed in any page nothing about new key needed for reloaded, but i want to ask you if you keys are up-to date with SUS, if you are up-to date then the licence manager don't gives any error, only press retrive you ordered keys, if you aren't up-to date in SUS, then it's normal to have this kind of errors, becouse you hadn't pay to use new versions apart of the version you have purchased or the possible versions in the year of the purchase (remember that all keys includes 1 year SUS)

maybe it's a problem....But i think the possible problems are here

Poof

Well, I do believe that it's a bug.

However, they DO need to say that there is a change they will have to talk to billing about getting a new key if the upgrade key process bonks out.

(EDIT)
Also, since this is a production enviroment type system. There is -NO- room for failure. There is no excuse for it not working. Would you take the "oops. We must have forgotten some bugs" from the firmware makers of a faulty dialysis machine? Fine, Plesk doesn't have peoples lives on the line. It does however have their BUSINESSES.

Has plesk gotten back to any of you? I have written them an email and nothing!!! I have a business machine that I might as well call offline. Is anyone also finding that some of the web sites are not loading properly?

oops , I already started a new thread and I didn't find this this one yet until now..

I have the same problem.

Upgraded my psa but got error in key and sus ends at august 11th th of ..

I've got my mail in wich they propose to upgrade but i only have access to a credit card next week....

I also found it strange that they are talking about a .007 key , while the latest key that I had was .006 and this is in my backups.. i've never upgraded the system so it went 007 (not that I know of)....

so here I am with the same problem...

I can't even log in to my psa no more because I tried to install the 006 key "the old way"...

I do not know about you - but I'm now working with the proper key - that expires in 14 days.

I called Plesk sales to find out why my key would not update. They said I had a "special" key with one of their hosting partners. They sent me a 14 day temporary key until they figure out a new key format with my current server vendor.

Another note: Once I installed the temporary key, one of my hosting clients said they the clicked on the Mail icon to manage their e-mail accounts and nothing popped up. The screen was totally blank. OUCH. So, I went back here to see if there was anyone else having the same problem and someone on a another thread posted a mail fix SH script. I installed that and now everything is good.

Whew!

I had the same error but today I found an explanation at Plesk 7 Reloaded download page (http://www.sw-soft.com/en/download/plesk7reloaded/)

And it seems that they fixed the problem. At least I was able to upgrade my old key using their Online License Upgrader for Plesk Keys (https://register.sw-soft.com/key_upgrade/)

Thanks for the link for the license upgrade, I was trying to find this link for so long in their website but with no luck. I had to upgrade 3 servers to the new plesk and the first tow went without any problems but the last one could not upgrade the key so I had to find another way to do it. The only for did the work.

thanks again

Why do any of you do upgrades on your production servers without first testing it on a non-production server? To my way of thinking, that's like playing with fire in a room full of TNT.

Paying for the yearly SUS is part of the 'cost of doing business', and anytime you buy the license thru a reseller, there are bound to be issues in upgrading to a new major version.

Again, my way of thinking is to just go direct to the source and cut out the middle man.

(Just my 2 cents...)

In the reality when you install one new Reload you get an basic license instaled... but you cant run the old process of ./ksksksks.sh licence if you do this the PSA don't run....

You must log as admin... and upload the real upgraded license...
